Good Technology is on the fast track to becoming a leader in providing mobile services for individuals on the cutting edge of digital media. California-based Good Technology has developed Good Works to bring mobile capability opportunities to businesses, government and regular users. Good Works is comprised of three components — Good for Enterprise, Good for Government and Good for You.
Good Technology recently announced that the Good for Enterprise component will support mobile devices like the Apple iPhone, Palm Pre, Windows Mobile, Symbian and various Android devices. While iPhone is the leader in mobile technology, there is a demand for user platforms for other devices. “The trend is moving towards how enterprises are deploying more applications to its mobile users,” says John Herrema, vice president of marketing and CMO of Good Technology. “This is consumerization of mobile users.”
Good Works is a result of “Device Dilemma,” a study Good Technology under conducted on large enterprise companies throughout the United States and United Kingdom to find out if IT decision makers were meeting the demands of their mobile users. The top concern from IT decision makers was how to manage security and control from mobile users.
The findings also revealed that 28 percent percent of the companies have encountered security issues with mobile users and 44 percent of IT decision makers would like to be able to give access to mobile users based on quality security and configuration. Out of all the companies surveyed, more than 80 percent have mobile users who want to use their personal devices. These responses represent how enterprises are looking to integrate business and personal applications for their mobile users. “Sixty percent of users want their personal devices to go beyond email applications, ” Herrema says. “Companies are demanding use of multiple platforms, but IT decision makers need to be assured that this can be done without breach of security issues.”
Good for Enterprise will be available for the iPhone, Palm Pre and Android devices beginning in October. “With Good for Enterprise, we can provide our customers with the management and mobility for all platforms and ultimately provide for future platforms,” Herrema says.
